About Spicy Asian

Szechuan restaurant.

Spicy Asian is a chinese restaurant in Ithaca, New York. It is listed at 335 Elmira Rd, Ithaca, NY 14850, which places it among the local businesses of Ithaca that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.

In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Ithaca; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in New York are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

Hours are published for 2 days a week. The most common schedule is 11 AM–10 PM. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (607) 277-7017. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, spicyasianfood.com.

Customers rate it 4.3 out of 5 on Google across 588 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded chinese restaurants in Ithaca.

Ithaca is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Ithaca peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

This is one of my favorite spots in Ithaca. a Chinese restaurant I keep coming back. It’s the kind of place that’s quite consistent and comforting. Almost every dishes are yummy, but my go-to dishes are shrimp coconut, eggplant with garlic sauce, steamed whole fish with ginger soy sauce, and mapo-tofu. I usually go with Thai friends, and we tend to order the same go-to dishes every time. What really keeps me coming back, though, is the experience. The staff are welcoming, and the service is quick without ever feeling rushed. It’s one of those reliable places β€”good food, good service, and a comfortable atmosphere.

I love this place so much!! Been going here every time I'm in Ithaca for 12 years now. Always delicious food, and not "American" Chinese food, but REAL Chinese food. The staff are all very friendly & accommodating, no matter your spice palette. Hands down the best Chinese restaurant in the entire southern tier & finger lakes region!

Spicy Asian Kitchen was okay overall. The portion size was pretty small for the price, but the service was quick and convenient with a drive-through option. The food taste was okay.

Just dropped off our daughter at college and we were hungry from all the lifting! We wanted something relatively healthy that wasn’t too heavy. Spicy Asian was great! We got fried dumplings (ok, maybe not the healthiest 😝) and were so delicious - it didn’t taste oily and they might be homemade? My husband and I shared the chicken, beef and shrimp with broccoli in garlic sauce and it was amazing. I overheard the waitress tell another table that they make their own egg rolls, so had to try that! It was very tasty (I would have preferred some meat in it but it tasted very light-perfect amount of wrapper where some places have it too thick. Excited to take my daughter here when we come visit!

This is a great place to get Sichuan food in Ithaca. I really enjoyed all their dishes. Their lamb was great. Their whole fish was very tender. I loved the egg drop soup. We had some dumplings in spicy sauce which was yummy. And the potato’s in their stir-fried shredded potato dish was crispy and savory. The service was good. We went during a weekend evening in the summer and the place was not busy. The service was prompt. Note: Not all of the staff speaks Mandarin. The first waitress we did spoke Mandarin but we had another person who served our table who did not. The inside of the restaurant is like a typical Chinese restaurant. There is also plenty of tables and seating inside. There is a parking lot outside the restaurant so we parked there. We did not have trouble finding parking (albeit we didn’t go when it was very busy).
